JUBILEE – REUNION DAY

On Sunday 17 April, 2016 we held our Reunion Day, the first of many occasions to mark our school and parish Golden Jubilee. We were delighted to welcome many past principals, staff, students and parishioners to our celebration.  It was a very special day with many enjoying the memorabilia displays and touring the school, with many commenting on how lovely it looks, and then sharing light refreshments and catching up with past friends and acquaintances in the hall to share memories.

I would like to thank all the members of the Jubilee Committee who have worked very hard to make this day the huge success that it was.  I especially thank our school leaders who were able to attend and conduct the tours around the school and the staff for their presence and support on the day.  Each one’s personal contribution made for a very successful event.  I cannot of course, forget the wonderful students who sang in the choir and, under the direction of Mrs Micomonaco and Miss Scott, made the Mass even more special with their beautiful singing.

We were also very grateful for the support of the students from Loyola College, who gave up their time on Sunday to help with the catering and school tours.  Many of these students were past pupils of St Damian’s.  It was obvious by their enthusiasm that there is still a strong connection to our school and parish.   I hope that our families and students who were here on Sunday had an enjoyable day.
